Of all the products used for a wedding makeup, probably the most important is foundation. Every bride is looking for flawless skin, whether it be matte, dewy or somewhere in between.
I've compiled my top four most used foundations for weddings and what I love about them.
RCMA - The holy grail of cream foundations for many makeup artists, this may be one you haven't heard of. This foundation has been around forever (1964 launch) and was one of the first ever cream foundations I used when I was studying. I abandoned this gem for the more trendy consumer brands and now have found my way back to it. It has a whopping 50% pigment (most consumer brands are at around 20%) and can be sheered down for a fresh look or built for a full converge. This photographs like a dream, comes in a plethora of shades for all skin tones and can also double as a concealer. The colour grouping is a little confusing. If you're interested in a breakdown, head to Beautylish for a full rundown. You can purchase it from most professional makeup suppliers including Makeup and Glow and the ever popular Adore Beauty.
Face Atelier Ultra Foundation Another pro brand I love, this is a silicone based liquid foundation, meaning it doubles as a primer. This liquid gives amazing coverage for a liquid and again comes in loads of colours. I love that I can buy this in a small, plastic dispenser so they are lightweight and take up very little room. This foundation is best suited to those with a normal to dry complexion. I don't like it on oily skin as it is a dewy formula. I often pair this with my RCMA for slightly more coverage. PM studios is my shop of choice for all Face atelier purchases.
Makeup Forever HD I seriously love this foundation. I love this for brides who are a little oily as it has a satiny, semi matte finish. If I spray my brush with Makeup Forever Mist and Fix before I apply, this is bulletproof. It has great coverage and a little goes a long way. Heaps of shades and available at Pm Studios and Sephora
MAC Face and Body The only Mac foundation in my kit, this foundation suits almost everyone. The consistency takes a little getting used to as it is quite runny, but don't let that fool you. MAC face and body is waterproof and long lasting. It now comes in much easier to travel with smaller plastic packaging so I can carry more. This product needs to be shaken well before use.
Use any of these foundations for any event. I use a synthetic Real Techniques brush to apply and a Beauty Blender to perfect. What's your go-to foundation?
